Solution
Carbon disulphide is a toxic compound. It causes respiratory distress in humans and acts as a narcotic. It is also a flammable liquids as it has a low ignition temperature. It burns in air to form toxic carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide gas.
It also causes conjuctivitis and corneal burns.
So, while working with carbon disulphide a chemical hood should be used while working with the solvent or appropriate measures should be taken to avoid inhaling the vapours.
Contact of the solvent with the skin and eyes should be avoided.
Carbon disulphide should be kept away from any ignition source.
