Solution

When two different substance are mixed and there large amount of heat is given out then surely the reaction took place between those two substances. And when there is a reaction between two different compounds leading to formation of product then the substance formed will be definitely a compound. The product cannot be an element because it can be broken down in to smaller forms, from which it is formed.
