Question

When we connect a series of resistors in aparallel circuit, doesn't the same amount of current flow through each resistor?

Open in App
Solution

When a number of resistances connected in parallel are joined to the two terminals of a battery, then different amounts of current flow through each resistance. The amount of current depends on the value of resistance.

Suppose two resistances R1 and R2 are connected in parallel to one another between the same points. A battery of 'V' volts has been applied across the ends of this combination.

Then the current flowing through each resistance is I1=V/R1, I2=V/R2
