In the 19th century, thousands of Indian and Chinese indentured labourers went to work on Plantations, in mines, and in railway and road construction projects around the world
These workers were promised return travel to India after they have worked for 5 years on their employer’s plantations
Most of the Indian indentured labourers came from present day regions of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Central India and districts of Tamil Nadu
