The function of carbonic anhydrase enzyme is to convert carbon dioxide into carbonic acid and facilitate its transportation. It regulates the acid base reaction and pH balance in the blood. Hence it found mostly in the blood cells , pancreatic cells, gastric mucose, renal tubules etc.
