Ferrous sulphide is a very important lab reagent. It is very commonly used in Kiip’s apparatus for producing hydrogen sulphide gas. It is also used in production of alloys of iron like steel, stainless steel. Also, it is used in the purification of phosphoric acid. It reacts with heavy metal present in the acid, thus making it free from impurities.
