Inherited traits are involved in directing the evolution as these are result of variation in the genes of reproductive cells which are inherited from parent to the offspring. The accumulation of variations leads to evolution.
Acquired traits do not contribute in evolution because these traits are experienced by an individual during his lifetime, Secondly, these traits involve changes in genes of non reproductive cells (somatic cells), which are not inherited from parent to offspring.
