Question

which is the codon that codes for same amino acids in all the species?

Open in App
Solution

  • From bacteria to man, the same triplets of DNA bases code for the same amino acids. However this does not mean that all species encode their genomes in exactly the same way.
  • Methionine is the only amino acid specified by just one codon, AUG - the start codon.
  • Other amino acids are specified by more than one codon-usually differing at only the third position.
  • Stop codons such as UAA, UAG, and UGA do not encode any amino acid.
