Question

which is the stronger acid in aqueous solution HF or Hcl

Open in App
Solution

The more easily an acid can furnish H+ ionsin solution, the more stronger the acid is.
The size of Cl- ion being larger than F- ion, the HCl bond is weaker than HF bond.
So HCl can dissociate more easily in water to liberate H+ ions and hence is a stronger acid.
