Jonathan Swift, tried to satirise his contemporary society of the 1700s through 'Gulliver's Travels', and to do so he employed the 'Traveler's Tale' narrative technique. The narrator, in the book pretends to tell a tale about places that are outlandish and bizarre, and through the various characters that he finds there, he critiques the flaws of the society and mankind in general.
