Cellulose plastics are the toughest plastics and are heat resistant. Cellulosics is the general term for the group of plastics that are derived from cellulose. There are five cellulose plastics - cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose nitrate, ethyl cellulose, cellulose propionate. These plastics are used in shoe heels, toothbrush handles, piano keys, combs and steering wheels.
Even Phenolics are stronger plastics that are produced by the condensation of phenol with formaldehyde in presence of base. These plastics are used in washing machines, telephones, ash trays, etc.
