Zn + 2HCl ZnCl2+ H2
The gas evolved is hydrogen. If we bring a matchstick close to the mouth of the test tube evolving hydrogen gas then there is instant spark of fire because hydrogen gas catches fire and produces a pop sound. This is due to hydrogen reacts with oxygen present in air to form water vapours.
