White light can be made by using just the 3 colors red, green and blue. When this white light is passed through the prism, will it also split into the 7 colors of light (VIBGYOR)? If yes, why, if no, why not?
White light is composed of seven colors not three. We can consider red, green and blue as the extreme colors or net colors of the effect of the seven different colors. This is why white can be formed from the three of them. The remaining four colors are formed by the combination (overlapping) of the three primary colors, red green and blue. However, each color is unique and has its own particular wavelength. They are thus affected by the prism differently and cause dispersion.
