Question

Why a vehicle slows down when we apply brake ?

Open in App
Solution

When we apply brakes a vehicle stops because on applying brakes, the stoppers near tyres of vehicle comes in contact with tyres and apply a retarding force which prevents tyres from rotating. Thus, without further rotation of tyres the vehicle slows or stops depending on how strongly brake is pressed.
