WHY ALKALI METALS ARE NORMALLY KEPT IN KEROSENE OIL

Alkali metals are very reactive,They react with oxygen, water vapour and carbondioxide in the atmosphere to produce oxides, hydroxides and carbonates. To prevent these reactions alkali metals are kept in kerosene oil.
