Why amplitude and sound are related to transverse wave, when sound is a longitudinal wave?

Sound is a longitudinal wave in air but sound is found to travel both in longitudinal and transverse wave in solids and liquids. And to make an easier representation on graph we show amplitude ,wavelength etc in the form of transverse wave.
