why are ATP called the energy currency of the cell?

The body converts energy into ATP. These ATPs store energy within them. For all type of cell functions that convert substances into glucose and other metabolism processes require ATP. Without ATP these processes will not take place. Thus, ATP is considered as ‘the energy currency of the cell’.
