Question

why are carbon oxygen bond lengths in Na2CO3 equal

Open in App
Solution

The bond lengths are equal due to the resonance. As a result of resonance the bonds remain in a state of constant flux and appear to blend into one, this gives an allusion of all bond lengths being equal.
