The iron sheets are galvanized before use to prevent it from rusting . The iron sheets are dipped into the solution containing zinc and this zinc makes a thin layes on iron.

It prevents the iron from rusting and corrosion in two ways:

1) It covers the iron from coming in direct contact with water and oxygen.

2) It being more reactive than iron reacts first and undergoes oxidation.
