Solution

  • Though Green Revolution has increased the job opportunities in agriculture sector, the effects were not widespread and in terms of India, it was limited only to certain regions
  • Industries in both public and private sector provided jobs in urban regions
  • But, it did not absorb maximum job seekers
  • Unable to find jobs in cities, many unemployed persons started working as hawkers, rickshaw pullers, vendors etc
  • They could not afford housing facilities and hence, they lived in slums of urban areas
  • But, there are more number of poor people in rural areas.
  • Due to improper implementation of land reform measures , people in rural areas became more poor as they required money to buy implements for agriculture like HYV seeds, pesticides etc
  • This made them to borrow money from the moneylenders and in order to repay them they acquired more loans thus keeping them indebt for long.
