why are titanium and chromium classified as strategic metals?
Titanium and Chromium are called strategic metals as they are essential for country’s economy and defence.
These metals have high tensile strength, high corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, high crack resistance, and ability to withstand moderately high temperatures without sneaking; they are used in aircraft, naval ships, space crafts and missiles, propeller shafts and rigging, etc. These applications are important from national as well as industrial point of view and hence termed strategic for their importance in development of any country or its economy.
