Most kidney stones are caused due to formation of calcium oxalate crystals in the kidneys. Therefore, substances rich in oxalates should be avoided during kidney stones.Tomatoes are rich in oxalates, therefore, they are not good for kidney stones.

Milk is only avoided when too much dietary calcium is absorbed from the intestine. In such a circumstance, restricting calcium intake is useful.
