Antibiotics are the substances which kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics are not used against viruses; for viruses, anti viral substances are used. Antivirals are available for treating viral infections but they are less in number as compared to antibiotics as there are less targets in viruses which can be used for antiviral medicine development.
