why beakers are made up of glass or plastic? why not with cloth or metal

Beakers can not be made by cloths as cloths can be porous so we can not store liquids in that. In case of metals which can be corrosive and heat resistance do not use in the formation of beakers. As glass and plastics are heat resistance and can store hot liquids also are used for the formation of beakers.
