Bryophytes have adapted themselves to a terrestrial life. But require the presence of water for completing the life cycle.They are dependent on water for sexual reproduction. Water is needed for the movement of the gametes of bryophytes and in their vegetative structure. Hence, Bryophytes are described as ‘Amphibians of the plant kingdom’.
