Question

Why can Electric Field Lines be called Lines of Force while Magnetic Field Lines cannot ?

Open in App
Solution

Force exerted by the electric field, is in the direction of the electric field lines so electric field lines are called lines of electric forces.
But force exerted by the magnetic field, is in perpendicular direction to the magnetic field lines, hence they are not called as lines of magnetic force.
