Question

why Constantan is used to make standard resisters?

Open in App
Solution

Resistors are made up of materials which have less number of free electrons. Thus, they provide opposition to flow of electrons (current) which is known as resistance offered by that particular element.
Constantan are used to make standard resistors because, they have high value of resistivity, their temperature coefficient of resistance is less and they are least affected by temperature.
