why did Dadabhai naoroji support the moderates?

Dadabhai naoroji was one of the founding members of the Indian National congress. He was basically a publicist and for some time member of the British Parliament who believed in the constitutional methods, of passing resolutions , holding meetings etc. He believed that through his writings on the critical role of the British in India, he would make people aware. His famous economic critique of the British rule did create a lot of awareness among the people.
