Why did the germans hold the Weimar Republic responsible for the defeat in the war and the signing of the treaty ? explain.

Weimar Republic had accepted the humiliating and unpopular Versailles Treaty. According to the treaty, Germany had to bear arms limitations, reparations and war guilt clause. It brought upon on itself dishonour and defeat and brought forth the fury of the German nationalists.
