why ditilled water is neutral in nature? why it is not acidic or basic in nature?

Distilled water is neutral in nature because it does not excess of either H+ ions or OH- ions which cause it to be acidic or basic respectively . Since the number of H+ is equal to OH- ions therefore it is neutral in nature.
