Question

Why do aerobic organisms need to ensure that there is sufficient intake of oxygen?

Open in App
Solution

Aerobic organisms require oxygen for respiration. Respiration is an energy yielding process. In this process, food is broken down to carbon dioxide and water in the presence of oxygen. This process releases a large amount of energy which is used by aerobic organisms to perform essential activities. In absence of oxygen aerobic organisms will not be able to respire and hence die.
