Question

Why do leaves have more stomata on lower side than upper side

Open in App
Solution

There are less stomata on upper surface of leaves than lower surface because they are more exposed to sunlight and wind flow which results in more loss of water than in lower surface. The more number of stomata in the lower epidermis reduce the rate of transpiration through stomata.
