Question

Why do liquids have more kinetic ennergy than solids?

Open in App
Solution

Liquids are less closely packed than solids. They have less force of attractions compared to solids. As a result, the particles in a liquid move faster in terms of vibration, rotation, and translation.

Hence the particles in a liquid have more kinetic energy than the particles in the corresponding solid. Liquids occupy more space and less dense than solids.
