Question

Why do magnets stick to metals?

Open in App
Solution

Magnet does not stick to all metals, only the ones that are magnetic in nature like Iron, Nickel etc.

This is because the magnetic field exerted by a magnet magnetizes the metal (like Iron) by orientating its dipole along the same directions. This causes attraction and thus iron stick to the magnet.
