Question

why do rhizobium lives only in leguminous plants?

Open in App
Solution

Rhizobium exist in a symbiotic association with leguminous plants and form root nodules in legumes. They can form nodules only in leguminous plants as they are specific for legumes. Legumes synthesize various chemical attractants in soil which attract Rhizobia. Also, legumes have specific receptors and structures required for forming symbiotic association.
