Dear Student,
The rulers in non-democratic countries hold elections so that they are not removed by military coup.In the eyes of international community, they would like to be respected as stable, ordered and peaceful country because decides the credibility of a country.
The candidates are required to display their statement of property because elections are fair if transparency is taken account .
EC has powers because its function is to conduct free and fair elections which decide the leaders of the country. These leaders are the voted choices of the people, and represent their will, wishes, aspirations etc. It is a big task to conduct elections in big polities in peaceful way.
