Solution
The main factors that can be attributed for the location of steel plants are availability of raw materials, labour, transport and market
Important steel industries like Bhilai, Rourkela, Bokaro, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, etc are situated in region that includes 4 States like West Bengal, Jharkand, Odisha, and Chatishgarh
Other areas that utilize the resources and have set up iron and steel industries are Bhadravati and Vijayanagar in Karnataka, Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Salem in Tamil Nadu
Hence, major steel industries are set up mainly in North East and Southern parts of India because of the availability of raw material, cheap labour, well connected by road ways and railways and availability of market.
