Question

why do trees shed their leaves in winter?

Open in App
Solution

Trees shed their leaves in late autumn and early winters as they have become older and almost lost the capacity to carry out photosynthesis. Secondly, in winters plants do not receive enough sunlight to fulfil their food requirement so they remain alive till they have stored food. Once they consume all the stored food, the leaves turn yellow, dies & shed from plant.
