Why do you think slaves and servants were ill treated? Do you think the orders of the emperor would have improved their condition? Give reasons for your answer.

Slaves and servants were of inferior classes and people from higher classes tended to rule them. They did not perceive slaves as a human being but a non living thing who would follow all their orders. If they were not followed slaves were beaten, punished etc. Emperors could have made efforts to improve the conditions of slaves by punishing those who ill treated slaves or laws could have been made for the betterment of the slaves.
