Question

Why does a driver use a convex mirror as a rear view mirror?

Open in App
Solution

Because, the image formed in a convex mirror is smaller than the object. Due to this, more area is reflected in the same size of convex mirror than in a plane mirror of the same size.

This enables the driver to observe more of the traffic without increasing the size of the mirror.
