Question

why does a marble floor feel hotter in summer than a carpeted floor?

Open in App
Solution

Hi user,

Marble conducts heat easily. The absorbed heat energy is conducted towards the other parts of the marble floor and causes it to become more and hotter. But the carpet has many holes in it, through which air can pass and air is a bad conductor of heat. This is the reason that marble floors feel hotter than carpeted floor, during summer.

Hope this answers your question,

Best wishes!!
