Question

why does a primarary colour disk appear white when rotated

Open in App
Solution

Hi Souvikm!

The colour disc made up of primary colours or colours of rainbow appears to be white when rotated because of the persistence of vision of the eye. Due to persistence of vision, an image formed in the retina will stay there for one twenty fifth of a second. When the speed of rotation of the disc becomes high, we cannot distinguish between the individual colours and we see the combination of the colours.

Cheers!!
