A conch shell is a horn. When you hold your lips tightly together into the shell and make a buzzing sound, the conch shell picks it up and amplifies it manifolds. The vibrations from the concentrated sound source is picked. The interior configuration of a conch shell is made such that the sound vibrations are picked up and amplified resulting in loud sounds.
