Why does snow appears white??

Open in App
Solution

We know colour of the object means the light which is scattered by the object. Sky appears blue because it absorbs all colours of light except blue, so blue colour is reflected and sky appears to be blue.
Snow is the combination of many tiny ice crystals, they reflect all colour of light i.e no colour from the white light is absorbed by the ice therefore snow appears to be white.
