Question

why does gravitational accelaration decreases as we move towards the poles from equator?

Open in App
Solution

The radius of the earth R decreases when we go from the equators to the poles. Hence, the value of acceleration due to gravity g increases because value 'g' is inversely proportional to the radius of earth.

g=GMR2

As R decreases,the value of 'g' increases because G and M are constant.
