Question

why does our teeth turn yellow

Open in App
Solution

Teeth turn yellow because of wearing away of white enamel coating on teeth. When we take too much of acid containing foods or drinks the acid wears down the thick enamel coating causing yellowing of teeth. Also smoking, drinking coffee/cold drinks is also reasons for yellowing of teeth. When we take too much fluoride during childhood when teeth are forming yellowing will occur. Accumulation of food particles and subsequent invasion by microorganisms also causes yellowing of teeth.
