Why does p block have six group of elements?

Open in App
Solution

The 'p block' is called so because the valence electrons in the atoms of these elements are in the p orbital, as we know that p orbital can accommodate a total of 6 electrons, one electron each is filled into the p orbital and hence it has 6 elements per period.
