Open in App
Solution

When LiCl crystal is heated in presence of Li, the chloride ions move to the surface of the metal and combine with Li.
Li + Cl- ------> LiCl + e-.
The electrons produces diffuse into the crystal and occupy the holes (anion vacancies) produced by the missing halide ions.
