The meandering course is formed due to following reasons.
1.It is caused due to combination of erosion and sediments deposition.
2.Change in the water course due to some obstruction like road or tree felling.
3.In mature stage, rivers slow down and there are more chances of formation of curve in rivers.

This similar are the reasons of formation of meanders in Ganga river.
