Question

why does th force on a current carrying conductor placed in a uniform magnetic field doesn't act in the direction of current?

Open in App
Solution

As the force on current caring wire is given by
F=il×B
Above expression is cross product so the direction of force is always perpendicular to the direction of current and the magnetic field direction.
Thats why th force on a current carrying conductor placed in a uniform magnetic field doesn't act in the direction of current
